D. Ryan Seregow started Bay Area Repeater Net in August of 2001,
with a vision to grow the GMRS community, educate others about
repeater systems, and coordinate GMRS repeater systems. Since
then, he has been in contact with many large organizations, worked
with several highly-recognized individuals, and successfully
built four large GMRS repeater systems, with more on the way.
In 2008, Ryan opened Comm1 Systems (includes Comm1 Towers and
Comm1 Rescue, a subdivision of Comm1 Systems). This company provided
2-way radio design and support, mobile installation services, cellular
repeater DAS designs, and tower site services with knowledge of tower
facilities and locations throughout Northern and Central California.
In June of 2010, Ryan joined four other large GMRS organizations across
the nation, along with several other smaller groups and individuals, to
rewrite CFR 47 Part 95 Subpart A and E (now-former GMRS regulations) as major
concerns came to light when large corporations started making FRS/GMRS
combination radios more feature-friendly, including use of data location
signalling and GPS. It was then the FCC created the NPRM (Notice of Proposed
Rule Making) 10-119 that now regulates our current radio service within
the Personal Radio Service (PRS). -- Without Ryan's involvement with this
proposal, many key points covered in today's regulations would not exist,
and because of his huge effort to keep the General Mobile Radio Service
"alive", it has prevented the FCC from dismantling and removing the service
altogether (which was an option in the proposal made by others).
As of 2019, Comm1 Systems merged with Prime System Integrations and is co-owned with his best
friend and C1S-former employee. They are both very successful, especially during
COVID-19, and have added many more contacts to the ever-growing clientele
list!
Aside from working in the RF industry, Ryan has 28+ years of extensive
education and world-class experience in audio engineering, lighting
design, and arena rigging for productions, broadcasting, corporate
events, theatrical houses, and recording studio locations. He's
designed and lead many technical teams, offered teaching classes
to the public education system, volunteered his time with several
churches and ministries in North and South America, and has created
many business relations with highly-recognized names in the industry.
-- Ryan currently owns one freelance company, DRS Productions, which
offers all these services at affordable but competitive pricing. He's
also a Rigger and Master Electrician for IATSE Local 134 entertainment union.
Ryan's side hobbies and pasttimes include landscape photography,
railroad history, historical preservation for the NPS, and
offroading in the Mojave Desert.
Whether it's working with the public, building repeater systems,
or sending out critical emails for emergency-related events,
he'll always be ready to help you at a moments notice. - 73!
